West Suburban Medical Center hosts Oak Park River Forest Chamber networking event

OPRF stakeholder meeting

West Suburban Medical Center was honored to host a two-day networking event sponsored by the Oak Park River Forest (OPRF) Chamber of Commerce on Jan. 30 and 31. The meetings brought together community stakeholders to discuss how the Chamber’s Spring Health & Wellness Fair could help partners reach the community with critical health and social services.

OPRF networking event

Day one brought together representatives from local schools, senior living facilities, and service providers to discuss their individual needs and identify partnership opportunities to better serve seniors, students, children, and families.

On day two, several local hospital administrators and political leaders came together to discuss the pain points uncovered during the first session. The group discussed opportunities to educate and improve access to primary healthcare and mental health resources, address gun violence, and reduce food and housing insecurities.

“We are thankful that all who participated were open and frank about their challenges, and about what they are seeing in their respective organizations. These continue to be challenging times and by no means are the effects of the pandemic over. Just the time to share as a group, and feel heard by a community of peers, was healing,” commented Liz Holt, executive director, OPRF Chamber of Commerce.

The OPRF Chamber’s upcoming Spring Health & Wellness Fair provides local healthcare and social service providers an opportunity to reach out and support the community. West Suburban is among the sponsors of the fair, taking place Sunday, April 23, 2023.

“Outreach is critical to understanding where the need is. Only together can we meet the true needs of the community,” added Resilience Healthcare CEO Dr. Manoj Prasad.
