River Forest Cancer Center Patients Receive Support From Community Groups

RFMC Cancer Center

The River Forest Cancer Center is not just an excellent center for medical care and treatment, but also a haven for support and sense of community for those in a time of need. The Cancer Center and Breast Center teams partner with several community groups to offer wellness activities and educational events to survivors and those receiving treatment. The goal of these programs is to create a community that is not just surviving, but thriving!

One of those groups is Wellness House, which offers no-cost programs to educate, support, and empower participants to improve their physical and emotional well-being. Leann Siewert, an oncology exercise and engagement specialist from Wellness House, provides a mindful yoga series on Thursdays in the River Forest Community Room geared toward our breast cancer survivors.

Another group, Pink Divas and Gents, is a breast cancer not-for-profit group that sponsors many events and provides ample free resources and support to cancer patients and survivors in the community. Recently, Janel Moreland of Pink Divas and Gents generously prepared and donated over 260 snack packs and water bottles for our patients in treatment at River Forest. This thoughtful act brought many smiles and provided much comfort to those undergoing treatment during a tough time. A little nourishment goes a long way! Stay tuned as Pink Divas and Gents will sponsor a “Day of Beauty” event for our breast cancer patients on Saturday, September 14 in the River Forest Community Room. It is an honor to work with a group who gives so much to our community!
