About Nuclear Medicine at West Suburban

Nuclear medicine specialists (technologists) provide diagnostic exams relative to the endocrine, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, skeletal, lymphatics, Inflammatory process, and tumor imaging.

Our procedure rooms are equipped with two nuclear medicine cameras, thyroid uptake probe, and a radioactive dose preparation lab.

Procedures include, but are not limited to:

  • Bone Scan
  • V-Q (lung) Scan
  • Myocardial Perfusion
  • MUGA Scan Thyroid Study
  • Hepatobiliary Scan
  • Renal Scan
  • Lymphoscintigraphy
  • Radioactive Iodine Treatments.

West Suburban Medical Center’s Nuclear Medicine program is accredited by the American College of Radiation (ACR). ACR accreditation is the gold standard in imaging accreditation. Achieving ACR accreditation means we are committed to providing safe and effective care.

The department’s hours are 7a.m.-3 p.m., Monday-Friday. A nuclear technologist is on call for emergency after-hours, weekends and Holidays. Call the Nuclear Medicine Department (708) 763-6524 to reach a Nuclear Medicine Technologist On-Call.

All nuclear medicine procedures must be scheduled using the outpatient procedure scheduling phone number: (708) 763-6518.

Patients should have a signed doctor’s order, arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their appointment time, and check in at the Radiology front desk at West Suburban Medical Center.
