West Suburban Medical Center Appoints New Governing Board Members

OAK PARK, Illinois – The Rev. Marshall Hatch and business leader Anan Abu-Taleb are the newest members of West Suburban Medical Center’s Governing Board.

“These two dynamic community leaders bring a wealth of knowledge and commitment to the West Suburban Governing Board. We are delighted to welcome them to the West Suburban family,” said Barbara Martin, Chief Executive Officer of West Suburban.

Reverend Hatch’s desire to help those in his community is significant. Throughout 36 years of ministry as a member and reverend of the American Baptist Churches of Metro Chicago, he has started various community outreach initiatives that tackled many issues facing the community such as affordable housing and substance abuse. His community work includes service on the Academy of Communication and Technology (ACT) Charter School and Christ The King Jesuit College Prep High School as well as organization of several community coalitions.

“I am proud to affiliate with West Suburban Medical Center, which has served our community with compassionate, quality care for more than 100 years,” Hatch said.

Abu-Taleb is a longtime Oak Park resident who carries a proven history of personal andprofessional success. Born in the Gaza strip, he immigrated to Chicago to attend college. From there, he went on to earn an MBA from University of Chicago.

He served as mayor of the Village of Oak Park for eight years, ending his term in May. His family owns the popular Latin American restaurant, Maya del Sol, on Oak Park Avenue.

“Community service is an important part of my life, and I am now pleased to add West Suburban Medical Center to the list of organizations that I support,” Abu-Taleb said.
