West Suburban Medical Center gets Fitzsimmons Award

The OakPark Department of Public Health and the Board of Health recently honoredseveral individuals and West Suburban Medical Center with the 2013 Dr. WilliamFitzsimmons Award for National Public Health Week in April. The award waspresented to West Suburban at the May 20 regular meeting of the Village of OakPark. West Suburban Medical Center was recognized with the other nominees forexceptional contributions to the health of the community. Noted among WestSuburban’s contributions was the Hospital’s community outreach in providingfree health screenings, health fairs and informational lectures on healthtopics.

“We feel very privileged to receive the Fitzsimmons Award,”says William A. Brown, FACHE, Chief Executive Officer, Westlake Hospital andWest Suburban Medical Center. “Our mission is to help people achieve Health for Life, so outreach, preventionand health education are at the core of our daily work. We really feel thatit’s our duty to be a resource for wellness, in addition to being a place toserve those in need of healing.”

TheDr. William Fitzsimmons Award is an annual award named in honor of Dr. WilliamFitzsimmons, a selfless humanitarian and physician who volunteered many yearsof service to the Village of Oak Park. West Suburban Medical Center will bepresented with the Fitzsimmons Award at the May 20 Oak Park Village Boardmeeting, along with the other awardees.
