Ask an Expert Educational Series

Join the diabetes center staff for monthly education seminars focused on the various facets of diabetes management. Every seminar will include a health screening, educational material and opportunities to win healthy prizes. All seminars will take place from 8:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. in Classrooms A-D. Light refreshments will be provided.

3-Point Screening in the Diabetes Center

It is important to stay on top of your health. The Diabetes Center makes it easy with its 3 point screening that includes: blood pressure, fasting blood glucose and your body mass index. Stop by the Diabetes center located in Suite L300 in the Professional Office Building on Tuesdays between 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Diabetes Support Group

Come share your experiences and questions with other persons living with this disease. The support group meets once a month in the Diabetes Center, Suite L-300. Call 708-763-1368 for dates and times.

Diabetes Cooking Classes

6 week hands-on free classes taught in the kitchen by a professional chef & registered dietitian who share their strength of diabetes education and cooking. Participants will learn how to:

  • Use healthy eating and physical activity to maintain ideal blood sugar levels
  • Prevent or delay short and long-term complications with diabetes
  • Control meal portions
  • Read food labels
  • Budget, shop and prepare healthy meals

Participants will receive groceries at most classes to take and prepare a healthy meal at home for their family. Registration is required.

Annual Diabetes Expo

This expo is FREE and includes health screenings, nutritional information, product and service exhibitors as well as experts talking about diabetes management and prevention. Get the latest information on prevention and managing diabetes and its deadly complications to help keep you and your family's health.
