West Suburban Medical Center (West Sub) is recruiting individuals interested in volunteering at our hospital located at 3 Erie Court (Erie at Austin Blvd.)  By joining us at West Sub, you will have the opportunity to share your skills, wisdom and time with our patients and staff. In addition, you will assist our staff in fulfilling our hospital mission of providing quality medical care to the communities we serve.

All age groups are encouraged to apply -- senior retirees, adults, college and high school students. High school students must be 16 years of age. Students who must accrue 40 hours of community service for academic credit should provide notice from their counselor.  Clerical and indirect patient care positions are available.  Volunteers are also needed for assistance at community health fairs.

As a member of our volunteer services corps you are eligible for discounts in the gift shop, cafeteria and on pharmacy prescriptions. Free parking is also provided.

Volunteer Opportunities

The positions available to Volunteers at West Sub are non-medical in nature.  However, there are a number of positions that do perform services for patients, such as the patient/family greeters in several departments. Those positions are noted in the descriptions that you can access by mouse, Click HERE.

There are several things that have to happen before you can become a volunteer (all of these are done at West Sub and are provided at no cost to you):

• You must get a flu shot (yearly)
• A two-step TB test must be administered and passed
• A background check must be completed
• A one-hour orientation must be attended

Please look through the descriptions of available positions (Click HERE) and fill in an on-line application:

Regulations do not allow anyone under 16 to work at West Sub. (Also, please remember that not all positions are always available at all times.)

Thank you again very much for your interest in being a Volunteer.  We are looking forward to having you join us and making a difference in the patient experience here at West Sub. If you have further questions, please call Sarah Dean, Manager of Volunteer Services, at 708-763-6548.
